Common Pole And Aerial FAQ's

Picture

Q: Who can attend a Pole Dance Class?

A: Pole and Aerial Fitness is for everyone. It doesn't matter what your size, gender, or your level of experience is. Age is not an issue either, our students range in age between 11 and 82.  Participants with the following conditions should not participate: Severe back/hip problems, moderate/severe heart problems, pregnancy, or a current muscle injury.

Q: What can I expect when taking a class at Sheer Inspiration?

A: Sessions start with varied warm-up exercises to get your body warm and ready. The remainder of the session focuses on curriculum work.

Q: Where are you located?

A: Our beautiful downtown location is at, 121 West Jackson Avenue Suite 101, Knoxville Tn 37902.

Q: What should I bring and wear to my session?

A: The only thing you need to bring to class is your amazing self and water. I recommend that you wear something that you can move & feel comfortable in. Shorts are required for Pole classes, skin to apparatus contact is required for grip. A sports bra, T, or tank top are a good choices. Street shoes are removed at the door, but you can be barefoot, in socks, or in dance heels for class. We have two private bathrooms and common area with cubbies available for our clients.

Q: Why no body lotions, oils or jewelry?

A: Creams, lotions, and oils stay in the pores of your skin and become greasy, which transfers to our apparatuses making it slippery and dangerous. Please don't wear any body creams or lotions on the day of your session. I don't allow metal wrist/hand jewelry of any kind. The hard metal will scratch the pole, damage your jewelry, and will affect your grip.

Q. How long is a session?

A: All classes are approximately 1 hour in length, unless specified on the calendar.

Q: Will I hurt myself?

A: As with any physical fitness program, you should do what you are comfortable with, and follow my guidelines. You will most definitely have bruising in the beginning as your body adjusts to this type of activity, as well as soreness. Anything worth learning takes time, patience, and may hurt a little along the way :).

Q: I am pregnant, can I still participate?

A: No, there will be no exceptions. Even if your doctor said it was okay I cannot teach you.

Q: Do I need any dance experience?

A: Absolutely not, I use your natural abilities along with very customized techniques & training to bring out your inner pole diva and move you safely through our curriculums.

Q: How do I schedule a lesson?

A: Online in the Booking System. All classes require pre-registration and payment to secure your spot in class. My classes are limited in spacing for an optimal experience.

Q:
I have a previous injury.

A: This a good to address; Always inform me and my other instructors about any current, or previous injuries that may affect your ability to do certain moves. Always have a physician approve any work-out regime before you start. Be sure to keep us apprised of any pains or issues you experience during class. Ultimately Aerial helps improve your joints and overall range of motion, along with flexibility, muscle tone and core/upper body strength which will significantly improve your journey to wellness.

Q: My family/friends may not approve.

A: This is a definitely a challenge for some. However, if you are properly educated about Pole and Aerial the capacity to change other people's perspectives is possible. Pole isn't what most people think it is; It's a beautiful form of art, fitness and sport combined. Pull up a video of any Pole Professional you love and share it with your family and friends. They love you, show them what you love, knowledge is power, so spread it! On the other end of this, your life and journey are your own. I have had students keep their journey private by creating private accounts to share the joy of their progress. Follow what's best for you, in the closet or out, we are here for you.
