
Taking any kind of dance class, at least for me, requires a great deal of vulnerability. I have recently returned to pole after a long hiatus and have greatly enjoyed the Voluptuous Lovelies class as a way of easing back into the world of pole dance. Brandie excels at creating a safe and positive space for women from all walks of life. Brandie's extensive dance background and gift for discernment allows her to masterfully incorporate elements of strength, spirituality, and sensuality into her classes. She meets each person at their present skill level and highlights their areas of value and power. Brandie then focuses on teaching us how to build on our strengths and expand into new horizons organically. I only wish this class had been around when I first started!

It was not until Sheer Inspiration Pole Fitness offered a class called, 'Voluptuous Lovelies a Curvy Friendly Journey through the Basics of Pole', that I began to think I could take on this dream. The teacher, Brandie Miracle, is just what her name embodies, a miracle. She has taken students who may not fit your idea of the typical pole dancer and helped us transform into the pole goddesses we never knew could exist. Brandie has opened my eyes to the idea that I can achieve fitness goals I never dreamed possible. I have learned so much since I started my pole journey. I am currently making my first foray into pole dance at Sheer Inspiration, in Brandie's 'Voluptuous Lovelies Pole Basics' class. It is an experience like no other! I feel it's invaluable to have a curvy woman coaching and encouraging other curvy women in this sport. Brandie not only has the experience and skills to teach the curriculum, she is genuine, empowering, and so much fun. Brandie's spiritual approach to pole takes learning the sport beyond the physical challenges and rewards and into a learning experience that also nurtures the spirit.

I have always been into fitness. Having taught Stott Pilates for 3+ years, I was in excellent shape. I was seriously injured in a car accident and had to stop working out altogether because I could barely walk, which resulted in low self esteem, depression and overall poor health.
I was invited to a 'Pole Party' a co-worker was having. Feeling obligated to go, I did. I'm thankful I did because I've been addicted to Pole ever since.

For years I thought about taking Pole Fitness Dance classes, but I just never made the time to do it. Then, one of my closest friends told me that she had tried it and loved it! After that, I made up my mind to go for it! So I began my search and found Natasha. I remember after my first lesson I left thinking she is trying to kill me; I can’t do this! However, I pushed past and stuck with it, following Natasha’s advice and guidance. Today I am stronger, sexier and smarter about my body! I truly enjoy poling because it’s fun and challenging. Pole opened my eyes to what my body can really do! I love Natasha because she pushes me to be better and to always do my best. Some people may think poling is just about learning sexy dance moves but for me, poling is more than that; it’s about flexibility, endurance, stamina, balance and having a healthier body. There is so much more that I want to learn and I am up for the challenge!

I began taking classes with Natasha Fine the instant I heard she was teaching. I had seen Natasha perform several times and was in absolute awe. I came from an 11 year background in gymnastics, but had put on some weight with age and time away from the sport. An elite gymnast has a very short “lifespan”—peaking between the ages of 15 and 17. At 38, I had written off the sport to which I had devoted so many years—until I saw Natasha perform. I saw so many similarities to gymnastics and ballet, and I also saw that Natasha was in her mid twenties! I couldn’t fathom how she was commanding her body to move with all of the precision, strength and flexibility I had basically lost when I stopped doing gymnastics. What’s more is that she hadn’t even begun to peak!
A few years later, I heard that Natasha was giving lessons, and I simply couldn’t resist. I had lost a little weight, but I was 40. I had been in a skateboarding accident that resulted in a torn Achilles tendon, and had lost the ability to even do a split. Still, I picked up the phone and called, expecting to hear that I was too old, too fat, or too broken. How wrong I was; I heard exactly the opposite! Natasha detailed a plan to help me regain my flexibility without injuring myself further, she was unconcerned about my age, and flat-out told me that the extra weight I was carrying would be gone if I simply applied and devoted myself to proper conditioning. After I began working with Natasha I began to regain all the strength and flexibility that I had lost, as well as losing some extra weight that along the way! She made me believe that I already had the power within myself to do anything I felt like doing, if I simply had the will. What a refreshing change from all that I had heard previously!
I worked with Natasha for a number of months before circumstances put us in different cities, but by then I had the basics, was inverting easily, and really only needed to hone and perfect the moves I wanted to accomplish—which is precisely how I had approached gymnastics as a youth. I purchased a studio-quality pole for my home and began to work on my own.
Today I am lighter, stronger, more flexible and definitely more confident. I am active in the initiative to get Pole Fitness into the Olympics and to get our sport more consistently regulated. I train on my pole about every three days, but I want to do much more! I learn something new about myself every time I step up to the pole. Pole makes me feel like nothing is impossible; it's given back something that was taken from me by the gymnastics establishment and proved that I certainly CAN be an elite athlete—even at 44 years of age! The best part is that, while pole taps into my personal competitive drive, it isn’t a requirement. Pole is whatever you want it to be. It’s provides a natural confidence-boost because it requires you to set and achieve short-term goals; it’s nearly spiritual, with movement being primarily circular, with beginner moves taking place in the air; it naturally strengthens your body in ways that NO OTHER single activity can replicate—and the list goes on. In fact, the idea that YOU decide what you want from pole is empowering in and of itself! Unlike aerobics, or lifting weights, pole encompasses a huge range of end-goals. Where else would one go if simply being more graceful was the only goal?

You unwittingly planted a seed in me, years ago, just by being an amazing performer. You helped me nurture that into something amazing, just by being my coach. You continue to set the bar for the things I want to do, even from far away. I’d say anyone in your area who is interested in this form of sport/fitness is truly lucky to have you at their disposal—I sure wish I still did!

It had been a long winter, and I had decided to make some changes in my life and began taking Pole Fitness with Natasha. I had seen a news story about a new workout 'fad' called pole dancing. I did an internet search and discovered a truly hidden gem, Natasha Fine. I have always exercised and thought I was in good shape. After my first session with her I realized there was a whole new way to condition the body and have fun at the same time. Natasha is sweet, patient and encouraging, all while gently pushing you and your body to do more than you
could ever imagine! The first time I inverted by myself, I felt like I had conquered the world!
Pole has given me amazing physical strength and a new found confidence that I have never experienced before. I recently performed in public at Natasha's Student Recital, which is something I have struggled with my whole life. I did it, albeit nervously, because of how I feel about Natasha. I would never disappoint her because she has never doubted me or my ability. Over the summer my 16 year old daughter took lessons with me. It was great to watch her shyness disappear as she gained the strength and confidence to do moves on her own. The look on her face when she inverted by herself for the first time was amazing. I just wish that she had been at Natasha's studio so she could have seen it too! Pole Fitness has made a difference in my life in many ways. The obvious being my improved strength. I have been involved in sports my whole life, which created a commitment to physical fitness. Poling has given me a full body workout that works and that is so much fun! Natasha does a great job of making exercise and health something you want to do, not just another workout. She has a passion for Pole and Fitness second only to her desire to teach others the benefits Poling can give you, inside and out.
